Disaster PlanningBefore an event ever takes place, state and local records custodians should create one or more of the following:
PReP Plan -- Every organization should have the following document completed and distributed as its basic disaster preparation tool - the Pocket Response Plan or PReP Plan. (This document was created by the Council of State Archivists as part of its Emergency Preparedness Initiative.) Side A is an Emergency Communications Plan and Side B provides an Emergency Response Checklist. It can be downloaded in Microsoft Word or as a fillable PDF and customized for any organization, then printed double-sided on a sheet of legal-size paper, trimmed and folded to fit into a Tyvek envelope that will fit in a wallet.
Disaster Response Plan Template - (thanks to the Georgia Department of Archives and History for creating this fill-in template.)
d-Plan - The On-line Disaster Planning Tool
Disaster Prevention and Safety Checklist (another good publication created by the GDAH)
