Flag Conservation Fund Donation

      On Thursday March 20, 2002, Dr. Jim Larose, a member of the Thomas Goode Jones Camp Sons of Confederate Veterans, presented a sizeable donation to the Friends of the Alabama Archives. Representing the Alabama Division of the SCV, Dr. Larose presented Friends coordinator Alan Nichols with a check for $1500.00 for the Flag Conservation Fund. The money was raised through the sale of SCV specialty car tags and was made available through the Heritage Defense Fund Committee. The Sons of Confederate Veterans and especially the Thomas Goode Jones Camp of Montgomery have been particularly supportive of the Flag Conservation Project. With their contributions and the donations of others, 12 flags have received conservation at a cost of nearly $100,000.00.
