  • Alabama Church Records, 1805-1982 and undated, 52 cubic ft.

    Arranged by denomination.

    This collection contains the records of major denominations within Alabama, including Baptist, Catholic, Church of Christ, Episcopal, Jewish, Methodist, and Presbyterian. The records pertain to churches throughout Alabama and document their activities through minutes, registers, financial records, correspondence, reports, programmes, and scrapbooks.

    Part of this collection contains histories of individual congregations, compiled by the Works Progress Administration during the 1930s. There are also records concerning religious activities and projects of women as well as information about the religious differences in the U.S. pre-1865 and post-war.

  • Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (Mobile, Ala.). Family Records, 1700-1860. 2 cubic ft.

    This collection consists of photostats and transcripts of birth, death, and marriage records in the Church of the Immaculate Conception. Some records are in French and Spanish. Also included are some baptismal and marriage records of African Americans. The original records are housed at the Cathedral in Mobile.
