Performing as Alabama, Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry, Jeff Cook and Mark Herndon, have received more honors than any other country group, and were proclaimed "Country Artists of the Decade" during the 1980s, and "America's Favorite Group," for their string of 21 number one singles.

Beginning in 1969, cousins Owen, Gentry and Cook formed a band. Throughout the 70s, the group developed, adding Herndon when the original drummer left.

In 1980, Alabama signed with RCA records, and released the first in its string of number one singles "Tennessee River."

Alabama is a 1993 Lifework Award for Performing Achievement recipient.
