Program that allows members to recognize, preserve, and display their lineage as it relates to the creation of Alabama. This program requires members to submit proof of ancestors arriving in the area now known as Alabama before becoming a state on 14 December 1819. The application and documentation is submitted to the First Families of Alabama Committee for verification of the information. Upon acceptance, these records are presented to the Special Collections Department of Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, where they will be on permanent file. This safe location prevents the possible loss of your valuable family research and preserves your lineage for easy retrieval by researchers. This program is one sure way to preserve your lineage as each member qualifying for the First Families of Alabama will receive a beautiful signed and numbered certificate, suitable for framing. The FFA Certificates Surname List is searchable.

Program that allows members to honor the library of their choice with an annual AGS Membership. Libraries may be in-state or out-of-state, in the member's current residing community, their old home town, or their ancestral communities. Gift memberships may be given in honor of or in memory of a loved one or friend and will be acknowledged in a future AGS publication. Notices of acknowledgement will also be sent as indicated on the Adopt-A-Library form. Give this gift of history today!

Each year the AGS President awards one or more "Resolutions of Appreciation" to members who have played a significant role on behalf of the society. Nominations for consideration may be made by printing and completing a Nomination Form and sending it to the AGS President, as indicated on the form. The resolutions are presented as the AGS Fall Seminar, held in Montgomery each October. The list of previous award winners is available.
